What effect does OAB have on quality of life?

If you suffer from OAB or incontinence and you find that the symptoms disrupt your lifestyle and cause you embarrassment and distress, you are not alone. Studies show that the symptoms associated with OAB can have a profound effect on the enjoyment of daily activities and quality of life.2

The impact of OAB symptoms varies from person to person and may be different depending on whether you are male or female, your lifestyle and activity levels, and how old you are. For example, a younger woman may be bothered most by having to get up frequently during the night and may be concerned about incontinence during sexual intercourse. Whereas an older woman may be more concerned about the impact of incontinence episodes and urgency on her productivity at work.8 It is important to discuss with your doctor how OAB affects you and what bothers you most about the symptoms. A better understanding of what is important to you will help guide your doctor in choosing diagnostic tests and treatment options that are most appropriate for you.8
